Complexe du Jardin

Our Proprietary Method for Phytonutrient Extraction

Camille Pissarro - Woman Bathing Her Feet in a Brook, 1895

The main ingredients in the two products that make up our Maison Collection (the Extrait de Maison and the Rituel de Maison) are the result of a time-less and time-honored extraction method which we’ve customized and fine-tuned to deliver a vibrant abundance of compounds that nourish and replenish the skin. We call it the Complexe du Jardin.

The process is, at first glance, seemingly simple: we meticulously saturate one of our oils with the nourishing medicinal properties of the plants we grow in our jardin following the Biodynamic® principles. The oil and plants spend weeks together, during which time the plants imbue their medicinal properties into the oil. Because our plants are grown Biodynamically, and harvested under a watchful and experienced eye for peak potency, our Complexe du Jardin is uniquely positioned to deliver a bounty of nutrients for the skin.

Since each of the two products focuses on different actions (the Extrait de Maison rejuvenates and revitalizes the skin’s barrier and the Rituel de Maison cleanses and restores the skin) they are comprised of different blends of medicinal plants. After all, the selection of plants is not random or based on emotional preference, rather each plant is researched and studied to ensure that the benefits are suited to the specific purpose of the product. The plants differ, but the process in which they supply the oil with their properties, does not.

This is but yet another way that separates our formulations from the rest. Most other extractions in other skincare products will be homogenous across various products because, at the end of the day, it’s easier to make one extraction and use it for multiple products. We take a more detailed, in-depth approach where each product in our Maison Collection receives its own specialized, specific blend of botanicals to best provide the benefits we seek for the purpose of the product.
